tell me a source different than this song to confirm what you say, I cannot imagine a bunch of Africans who didn't understand English fighting in the civil war. :p

I'm not going to argue. I am sure of what I am saying. This song is meant (as most of Marley's songs)as a protest for the exploitation black people had suffered especially in this period of American history. Yes, I am south American but I can understand the lyrics; when Marley makes reference "stolen from Africa" he meant they were brought against their will from time ago not to fight civil war! you are taking this song literally as a history class, if I am wrong please tell me where can I find.

Cismartinez? With a name like that you must be south american what i said about the Buffalo soldiers earlier is the truth they were'nt african americans. If you listen to the song properly BOB explains their story the truth not a fabricated colonial view that you are taught in your class room.

However for the attitude of some ignorant people we cannot judge all Americans, I wish to congratulate this country for being impartial and voting during the last elections for the man and his program not for the color of his skin.
Good choice!, now you've proved that you are not stupid but thinking people.

and this is for Mr.cnadiandestroyer, with this I'm going to say I do not mean you are racist, otherwise you wouldn't be listening to this kind of music, would you?
Yes, you're right, Europeans started with slave trade; nevertheless Americans continued with it for economical reasons and fed a prejudice against black people treatingthem as they were animals, remember your history, to be more specific the fight for civil rights took place 40 years ago, and Americans were ruling not Europeans.

This is for Mr. rychissnz, Buffallo soldiers were African Americans who fought on the Union side (North), some of them were "free" black men living in the abolitionist states, others were runaway slaves from the south, they found in the union army the chance to fight for freedom and getting even with the whites(which they hated to death deep inside). But as always...politics always have been politics, they were used to fight but still discriminated for a long time after.
americanmustard (November 22nd, 2008 @ 5:01 pm)
That's not correct! They were free blacks & former slaves fighting for America that we know. Had nothing to do with actual Buffalo or indians.
joescool121 (November 22nd, 2008 @ 4:34 pm)
buffalo soldiers were people from africa who were brought to america by americans to hunt and kill the plains buffalo in order to help drive out the indians who relied on the buffalo as a way of life
