Dacii (1966) - Decebal vs Severus

Rumanian film "Dacii" (1966) directed by Sergiu Nicolaescu. This is the ending where Severus (portrayed by French actor Pierre Brice) and Decebal ("The Bravest", portrayed by Amza Pellea) fight to the death in front of their respective troops. Since the film deals with the Roman invasion into Dacia under Domitian, this final battle scene seems to depict the Dacian victory at Tapae (the irongate into Dacia) where historically Fuscus was killed, Legio V Alaudae got crushed and its eagle captured. Severus appears to be a purely fictional character with no historical basis, since here he is elevated to command the invading Roman army after killing Fuscus (portrayed by Georges Marchal) in a duel. Notice the Dacian standard is the Draco.
