Steve Propes to revive the Jergins Tunnel in Long Beach, CA

Back

He is talking about the Jergins tunnel or subway in Long Beach, CA. It runs under Pine Ave and was built in 1927 allowing people a shortcut to the Beach. It was opened to the public in October, '07 to show the beauty of the tile and the antique, underground architectural feature we have hiding in Long Beach. The Heritage Society is working to reopen the tunnel or subway. The first annual University by the Sea held a class in the Tunnel Oct 28, '07. Steve Propes taught a RnR roots class for University By The Sea whose aim is to link downtown L.B. with CSULB.
